(I know this sounds overtly angry. It is truly how these articles in what seems to be a PR campaign to belittle the pedophile priest felonies, makes one of the crime victims feel.) How dare you, Matt Abbott, equate homosexual priests with predator pedophiles, as part of the never ending Catholic effort to explain away and belittle these felonies? Today it's the Abbott column, with an excerpt from Philip Lawler's new book, and apparently Abbott agrees with it:
"Their sins, loathsome as they were, are still understandable," writes Lawler about the pedophile priests. "Anyone who accepts the Christian understanding of Original Sin realizes that all of us are capable of the most degrading." WHAT?
How dare you misrepresent every human being, saying all humans are capable of these acts. I'm not. I never would rape a child. Most humans are repulsed at the thought. No wonder my family quit being Catholic, with such a wimpy, tunnel vision response to horrific crimes committed against children.
Lawler then writes and apparently Abbot agrees: "The second scandal is the prevalence of homosexuality.”
Hey, gay priests are NO SCANDAL, they are a fact of life, even if you dirty little scoundrels want to pretend it can't be true, a large number of men are gay.
A lot of gay men have found a great place to live their gay lives among all the other gay priests in the church.
THAT'S A JOKE.
Rape of children is more than a scandal and in no way weighs anywhere near in the balance of justice with gay priests.
Gay priests offend a few Catholics.
Rape of Children shocks most humans
Only thing gay priests are doing wrong is lying about being gay.
****************
Every human on Earth should be insulted that Philip Lawler thinks every human being is capable of raping and sodomizing children?
No. Most humans, I hope even some who are still Catholic, draw a line somewhere. That simpering, I forgive everything and we're all human excuse DOES NOT WORK here. I can forgive a hungry person for stealing my food, I can even forgive a greedy bank for stealing my money.
THEY ALLOWED CHILDREN TO BE RAPED
Get that through your head
and stop belittling it.
The Catholic Church MESSED WITH THE LIVES permanently of children who the Catholic Church allowed to be raped and then discarded. And any normal person would be horrified and hollering like Nancy Grace.
Not finding ways to explain it away.
There's more: “Every Catholic moralist knows the principle, Corruptio optimi pessima est: the corruption of the best is the worst of all..”
How dare you denigrate my soul, saying all humans are capable of these acts.
Some of us don’t rely on priests and bishops and big thick small print books for our understanding of the spirit. We do what Jesus said on the Mount, one of the few direct quotes from Jesus in the Bible, he said, Look to the sky and call out, Our Father.
He was talking about how people need to stay away from corrupt religions and bishops and ridiculous man-man rituals, aka Sacraments.
Don't believe these bishops.
THEY ALLOWED CHILDREN TO BE RAPED
Get that through your head
and stop belittling it.
"The third scandal is the abdication of authority — or worse, the complicity — of American bishops when they were first confronted with the evidence of clerical abuse."
Nope you're wrong again, Lawler and ergo Abbott. This third scandal is the number one scandal, in fact it is THE scandal summed up. The bishops are criminals and you guys are afraid to look at the fact that the secrecy inherent in your Church is what allowed this corruption to fester.
You nitwits instead of admitting your bishops are criminals and taking action prefer to spread this pap in bishop approved Catholic published books and try to explain away the felonies.
FELONIES
Being a gay priest is not a felony
Are these authors trying to write their way to heaven?
Are they afraid to admitting these crimes took place and their church needs a major overhaul because they will lose their place in Heaven sometime down the line for criticizing the Church?
Why else do they keep trying to explain away an epidemic of pedophiles in the Catholic priesthood?
****************
It must be talking points week.
The godfather bishop must have sent out an alert to all Catholic journalists to start finding ways to apologize away these 50-plus years of felonious behavior, allowing children to be raped, with this spate of stories, like the one yesterday from CNA about the Bishop of Peoria?
THEY ALLOWED CHILDREN TO BE RAPED
Get that through your head
and stop belittling it.
And if you hate gays that much, you are probably really gay yourself. Pastor Haggard's all of you.
Nyah, nyah, nyah
Don't Buy Lawler's Book
The excerpt in Abbott's column will be enough. Lawler does spend long paragraphs explaining that all kinds of corruption has gone on all through Catholic Church history.
Again, stand on a hill and look up to God and Say, Our Father who art in heaven.
And let the bishops go bankrupt. They deserve it.
Cut paragraphs:
I am so sick of leftover Catholics sitting in the pews coming up with new ways to forgive and forget these sins.
AND
It is so much smarter to pray and talk to God, and ignore these idiots on Earth who think they have a better way, and still think priests are entitled to special indulgence.

Kay,
Where the heck did you get all the energy? You must be taking your Ovaltine again! Your pieces here as well as on the Examiner indicate the adrenaline is really pumping through the system. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I still don't have a way to get therapy, so I vent here, which is, I think, more gratifying than a 50-minute session ever could be...

Marciel remembered for loving anything on two feet and maybe four
Vatican City – February 10. 2009 – According to sources close to the Vatican, more disgraceful details will soon be leaked concerning Father Marcial Maciel, founder of The Legionaries of Christ. Besides the sexual abuse of seminarians under his care; fathering at least one child and trying to impregnate a goat on several occasions; it appears that Marciel may also be remembered for his role as the French-kissing and French-sucking pedophile priest of the French Foreign Legion.
Apparently, when the hodgepodge of suitable sex victims declined or Marciel’s grew tired of the same seminarians, Marciel chose enlistment in the French Foreign Legion’s reserve program. This enabled Marciel to report for reserve duty a few times during the year where Marciel assumed the role of chaplain and oversaw the religious instruction of men whose lives were so desperate as to join the French Foreign Legion. Many were teenage runaways from all parts of the world. The younger the better, says the source.
One victim, who chose to remain anonymous, recalled how Marciel could get grown men to do just about anything for an extra half of cup of water. “We were stationed in the desert – that’s the reserve duty Marciel always requested – you lose all sense of pride and inhibitions when you’re dying of thirst. On weekends Marciel broke out the Kool-Aid, ice cold root beer and snow cones,” the former foreign legionnaire recalled. “And, that was after he added salt tablets to our water supply. Then he filmed it all.”
Vatican sources say some of the videos were confiscated in a raid at Marciel’s headquarters orchestrated by Cardinal Bernard Law who couldn’t wait to get his hands on the videos. Sources close to the investigation say Law was actually more concerned about getting his hands on something else, while reviewing the films.
Reports indicate the Jesuits and Benedictines may have some pirated videos as well, it seems a few have already surfaced on e-bay. It would make sense as the Jesuits and Benedictines have not done so well in recent clergy abuse lawsuits and with donations down, alternate fundraising ideas are necessary.
For now, Marciel’s followers are taking a wait and see approach, just hoping they won’t show up in any of the films. Rumors are surfacing that Marciel may have had a Twirl with Weurl, referring to current Washington DC Archbishop Donald Weurl. A spokesperson for Weurl has denied the allegations for now, but advised people to wait a week or two, as the archdiocese is still investigating and said the catchy phrase sounds vaguely familiar.
Time will tell how this scenario will play out. A former enlistment officer for the French Foreign Legion has retained an attorney and is considering a lawsuit against the Legionaires claiming that he lost a ton of money in commissions when he cold no longer convince young and old men from the bottomless pits of society to join the French Foreign Legion instead of spending the rest of their lives in prisons that often cared for the cockroaches better than the jailbirds. Eventually, the recruiting officer was let go before he racked up enough years to earn his pension. The former recruiting officer spends – what would have been – his retirement as a ticket taker at one of the last remaining burlesque theaters in Paris. There are some who believe it’s the ticket taker who may have been the deep throat who originally snitched on the French-kissing and French-sucking Marciel.
You hit it out of the park Kay.
These bishops spend millions defending priests that molest both kids and adults. Some of them are guilty of it themselves.
Why they do it, only they know but one thing is certain beyond any and all doubt; the RCC is riddled with priests, bishops and cardinals that are either guilty of molestation themselves, keeping quiet about molestation, or busy defending molesters.
In the course of this they commit numerous other crimes. Obstruction of justice, fraud, perjury, on and on.
You are so right, you do not need a man, be he protestant or catholic, to teach you about God. Those who claim to able to do so clearly do not know anything about God themselves. So what can they teach you?
And they either blame the victims, their attorneys, or gay priests.
Perhaps the 'gay' priests are those among their ranks who disapprove of these vile acts. Being gay never made anyone a child molester or a rapists and I offended on behalf of my gay friends.

Oblate Provincial Responds to Recent Allegations against
Rev. Dennis Killion, OSFS
February 4, 2009—Wilmington, DE—Rev. James J. Greenfield, OSFS, provincial of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, today repeated his regret and sadness at learning of an additional alleged instance of sexual abuse in the 1980’s against Rev. Dennis Killion, OSFS, a priest in the religious community. As a result of two previous lawsuits filed in August and September 2008 that alleged abuse against Fr. Killion, Fr. Greenfield has assigned him to the religious community’s retirement facility in Childs, MD, where he remains.
The allegations, listed in the lawsuit, Joseph P. Duffany v. Killion, et al., filed today in New Castle County Court, add a sixth plaintiff alleging sexual abuse as those named in the August suit when they were all high school students at Salesianum School in Wilmington, DE, in the 1980’s.
“Our sadness and regret are deepened today as we hear that there may be another victim of abuse caused by one of us Oblates,” Fr. Greenfield said. “We remain committed to protecting children from harm and abuse, and we are cooperating with the legal process to determine how best to heal from the suffering that may have been caused by the allegations against Fr. Killion.”
“Respecting the standards that protect children from abuse, we immediately removed Fr. Killion from ministry in August when the first lawsuit was filed. We are fully cooperating with the legal process where both parties discover the facts of the case,” Fr. Greenfield said.
The Wilmington-Philadelphia Province of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, the province to which Fr. Killion belongs, is fully accredited by Praesidium, a Texas-based independent national leader in abuse risk management. This agency requires compliance with 25 standards, from reporting and investigation of abuse allegations to education and background screening of members. The Oblates continue to be in full compliance with these standards.
“The accreditation process required all of us Oblates to be trained, and our policies of admitting and practices of training new members to be evaluated to ensure protection from any sort of abuse,” Fr. Greenfield said.
“As pastors in the Church, we safeguard our responsibility to care for all people, especially children and young people. This is an essential dimension of the Gospel that we are committed to,” he said.
The Oblates strongly encourage anyone who has been sexually exploited or abused by a priest, religious brother or sister, or any lay person employed by their community to seek help, and to report the abuse to law enforcement authorities and to the Oblates. The Oblates reiterate their commitment to care for the emotional, pastoral, and spiritual well-being of those who have suffered abuse by their members. If you or someone you know has been a victim of child sexual abuse, the Oblates urge you to contact the police and Ms. Kate McCauley, victim’s assistance coordinator for the Oblates, at 703-525-1555.
The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales is a religious community of priests and brothers who serves to connect the Gospel with the lives of people in the gentle and humble example of their patron, St. Francis de Sales. The Wilmington-Philadelphia Province works in schools, parishes, and other ministries from Boston to Southwest Florida.

Oblates Respond to Latest Allegation
September 9, 2008—Wilmington, DE—Rev. James Greenfield, OSFS, provincial of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, today expressed his regret and sadness at learning of another alleged instance of sexual abuse in the 1980’s against Rev. Dennis Killion, OSFS, a priest in the religious community. As a result of an earlier lawsuit filed last month alleging abuse against Fr. Killion, Fr. Greenfield has assigned him to the religious community’s retirement facility in Childs, MD, where he remains.
The allegations, listed in the lawsuit, James Marsilii v. Killion, et al., filed today in New Castle County Court, adds a fifth plaintiff alleging sexual abuse during the same year as those named in the August suit when they were all high school students at Salesianum School in Wilmington, DE, in 1986.
“We take seriously anyone who alleges sexual misconduct against an Oblate priest or brother, and we remove that man from ministry and work to learn the facts,” Fr. James J. Greenfield, OSFS, said. “If these allegations are true, we will offer our full apology to those victims in the case because sexual abuse is wrong and cannot be tolerated,” he said.
“Respecting the standards that protect children from abuse, we immediately removed Fr. Killion from ministry in August when the first lawsuit was filed. We are fully cooperating with the legal process where both parties discover the facts of the case,” Fr. Greenfield said.

Oblates Remove Priest After Allegations of Abuse
August 4, 2008—Wilmington, DE—The Provincial of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales today placed Rev. Dennis Killion, OSFS, on administrative leave after learning this morning about a lawsuit alleging abuse by the priest when he was a teacher at Salesianum School in Wilmington, DE. Fr. Killion has been assigned to the religious community’s retirement facility in Childs, MD, pending an investigation.
Fr. Killion had completed his ministry assignment at Bishop Verot High School in Ft. Myers, FL, and was preparing to work as an assistant pastor at St. Bede Church, Bucks County, PA. This parish assignment has been withdrawn.
“I have assigned Fr. Killion to our retirement center so that we may complete the necessary investigation,” Fr. James J. Greenfield, OSFS, said. “Respecting the standards that protect children from abuse, we immediately removed him from ministry and will authorize an independent investigation to learn the facts surrounding the allegations,” Fr.
Prior to his recent election as Provincial, Fr. Greenfield led the Oblates through the accreditation process.
“Allegations of abuse by our members are taken seriously, and if they are determined to be true, that priest or brother is no longer able to minister in the name of the Oblates,” Fr.
